Kickstart scheme; providing funding to create job placements for 16-24-year-olds.
The Kickstart Scheme has been put in place to help people aged 16-24 into work and off universal credit, with this age group being the worst affected by the pandemic and climbing the career ladder. Employers of all sizes can apply for funding to pay 6 months national wage for 25 hours per week, and £1000 towards set up costs. The placements can be started up until December 2021 and staggered. In January 2021 it was announced that over 120,000 jobs had already been created through the Kickstart scheme since it began in September. These roles cannot affect the staff or apprentices already in situ. 25 hours minimum must be worked, at least national living wage must be paid and only require basic training.
